What is a PAC?
A general purpose action committee receives contributions to use for political purposes, such as making contributions or independent expenditures to support candidates. All PACs are required to register with the Texas Ethics Commission and to report all financial activities conducted by the PAC.
Is the PAC affiliated with the Texas State University System?
No. The TSUS PAC is not officially affiliated with the system. However, the purpose of the PAC is to support initiatives that align with the priorities of the Texas State University System and its component institutions.
Is the TSUS PAC partisan?
No. We believe in supporting members of the legislature who value our system and higher education regardless of their political affiliation.
What issues are important to the PAC?
This issue of foremost importance is higher education funding. The TSUS PAC focuses on outreach to members who serve on either the House Appropriations Committee or Senate Finance. In addition, the PAC monitors both the Senate and House Higher Education Committees for issues that affect higher education.
Is my contribution tax-deductible?
No. Contributions to Political Action Committees are not tax-deductible.

How does the PAC decide which candidates they will support?
There are several criteria that the TSUS PAC Board use to decide which candidates to support. Several of the criteria that are used to determine contributions to a specific candidate include: Does the member represent a system school, is the member in a leadership position, does the member have a history of supporting higher education initiatives, does the member sit on a committee of importance to higher education.
Is there a limit to the amount I can contribute?
No. We gladly accept all contributions. No amount is too small.
What kind of elected officials does the TSUS PAC support?
The TSUS PAC supports certain statewide candidates and members of the Texas House of Representatives and Texas Senate. The TSUS PAC does not support municipal or federal candidates.
Where does my money go?
The majority of PAC contributions are used for financial support of candidates and members of the Texas House and Senate. Occasionally funds may be used for administrative purposes. The purposes include website maintenance, administrative costs, fundraising costs, etc.
